Artist Bio

Isadora Gullov-Singh is a mixed media artist based in Berkeley, California. Gullov-Singh creates grounded abstract minimalist art as an antidote to a hectic modern life. Her work is inspired by nature and architecture and distills memories and emotions to support mindfulness. Gullov-Singh grew up in Paris and Rome, and is of Filipino-Danish heritage. She earned her BA from Columbia University, where she studied Political Science, along with Art History, drawing and painting. After years in the corporate world and raising her two boys, Gullov-Singh returned to her art practice in 2020 with a new sense of perspective, informed by her multicultural background and a lifetime of experience.

Her work considers the interplay of nature and architecture in evoking memories and emotions. She is especially drawn to the interaction of organic and geometric elements in natural and the built environment. Distilling ideas from found moments of unexpected beauty, she reduces form to an intuitive essence, balancing strength with quiet, scale with intimacy, and linear structure with soft modulation to create moments for contemplation.  While grids and lines emerge as a visual framework, shifting rhythms and saturation invite you to tap into your subconscious. In her work, she uses different media as partners in exploring ideas, their material qualities infusing her work with their own sensibility.
